My goals to deliver impact

Our need for abundant and clean power is growing faster than ever, and meanwhile we face an aging electric grid. As the theme of "electrify everything" appears across numerous industries, more and more businesses are committed to reducing their carbon footprints and helping fight climate change. One of the core challenges the world will face over the coming decades is how we will get power from the site of generation to the site of demand efficiently. The electrification of transportation has been at the center of public discourse recently, and the primary roadblocks to widespread adoption are persistent issues with grid availability and power bottlenecks. Interconnection queues can have yearslong backlogs, and the disturbance and cost associated with trenching new lines can be excessive. The right battery technology can quickly and effectively unlock applications like DC Fast EV charging and provide a much cleaner alternative to incumbent technologies. This is where Revterra's next generation energy storage solution comes in. Revterra's grid-stabilizing kinetic battery technology offers a minimal environmental footprint compared to chemical batteries, a substantially longer lifespan, a more compact footprint per unit of power supplied, and absolutely no thermal runaway or fire risk. With Revterra's battery technology, the electrification of transportation can be greener than ever, grids can be fully decarbonized with the direct provision of physical inertia, and commercial/industrial companies can have the stability they need to continue running their businesses safely and successfully. Revterra hopes to accelerate the decarbonization of industries everywhere, helping the world to become cleaner and greener.

What drives me

Before joining Revterra, I spent the majority of my career working in the traditional energy space. Throughout my experience, I learned how critical abundant and affordable energy is in keeping the world moving. However, I also had broad exposure to the downsides of traditional hydrocarbon-based energy systems. Excessive emissions and the resulting impact on our environment are making the future of our planet more uncertain than ever. We need to find ways to continue giving people the energy they need to thrive, without pushing our world's health to the brink. These issues have become more and more apparent with the increasing occurrence of serious climate events, like the hurricanes and winter freezes that frequently have hit my hometown of Houston in the recent past. While delving into the world of climate and energy technology, I realized how many technologies solve one important problem, but introduce several new ones. For example, chemical batteries can accelerate the adoption of cleaner energy generation technologies, but they simultaneously introduce serious challenges with materials mining, disposal or recycling, ethical labor concerns, and more. Why can't we build a technology that instead relies primarily on recycled materials as an input, lasts decades instead of years, and removes concerns over fires that cannot be easily extinguished? This challenge is what inspired me to join Revterra and help bring our grid-stabilizing kinetic battery to life.
